AMC Institute Gathers Leaders For Annual Meeting

AMC-InstituteOwners and principals of association management companies (AMCs) will gather in Rancho Mirage, California, on February 8-10 for the AMC Institute’s 2012 Annual Meeting.

Three days of informative general sessions, topical presentations and networking events will bring together nearly 175 of the top business leaders in the association management industry.

AMC Institute’s 2012 Annual Meeting general session speakers will present high-level talks on management best practices, strategy and marketing that will encourage AMC owners and senior staff to take a second look at these areas in their own businesses.

Scheduled to speak are:

  • Maureen Broderick, founder and CEO of Broderick & Company — “The Ten to Tackle: Critical Management Areas of Focus for Building a High-Performance Firm”
  • Harrison Coerver, president of Harrison Coerver & Associates — “5 AMC Strategies for Success”
  • Kelly McDonald, author of How to Market to People Not Like You — “Marketing the AMC – Your Logo is Not Your Brand.”

For attendees who draw real value from research, numbers and facts, the AMC Institute 2012 Annual Meeting offers two sessions where presenters will get down to the data on the AMC industry.

Those curious to learn how AMC-managed organizations are doing in the current challenging economic climate, and how these organizations are doing compared to their profiles in 2007, will want to check out “Preliminary 2011 Client Operating Ratio Results” presented by Steve Kretzer, principal at Industry Insights, Inc.

Mr. Kretzer’s firm conducted this 2011 study, and he and members of AMC Institute’s Research and Benchmarking Task Force will review preliminary findings and discuss how they can be used to promote the AMC model and serve clients.

Revealed in “Using New Data and Marketing Tools to Grow AMCs” will be new data from the first-ever survey around perceptions and attitudes toward AMCs among volunteer leaders, association professionals and association influencers.

In this session, Mr. Kretzer of Industry Insights will be joined by members of AMC Institute’s Market Expansion Task Force to teach attendees about existing perceptions, misconceptions and advantages about AMCs, and how they can be leveraged – or overcome – with a new marketing program soon to be launched by the AMC Institute.

Attendees’ experiences at the 2012 Annual Meeting don’t have to end when they depart Rancho Mirage. One workshop during the meeting will explain AMC Institute Accreditation and encourage company owners to begin the path to accreditation or complete an already on-going process.

Also expanding the Annual Meeting experience is the creation of AMC Institute’s online community, conference 2.0. By participating in the online community, both before and after the conference, attendees can draw greater value from the meeting and not miss a moment of content or conversation.
