AMC Institute, the trade association representing the Association Management Company (AMC) industry, announced the 2010-2011 Board of Directors at its recent Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas.
John Dee, CPA (photo), of Bostrom Corporation in Chicago, has been named the 43rd President of the Board of AMC Institute.
Rick Cristol of Kellen Company, headquartered in Atlanta, now serves as President-Elect; Jaime Nolan, CAE, of IntrinXec in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has assumed the role of Vice President; and Gregg Talley of Talley Management Group, Inc., headquartered in Mt. Royal, New Jersey, is Secretary/Treasurer.
AMC Institute’s 2009-2010 Board President, Steve Drake of Drake & Company in Chesterfield, Missouri, is the immediate Past President.
An AMC Institute board member for five years, John Dee, CPA, is Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Bostrom Corporation, an Accredited Association Management Company (AMC) with headquarters in Chicago and an office Washington, D.C.
A recognized expert in developing program-based financial statements for associations, Dee has more than 17 years of experience working with both 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) groups as well as for-profit organizations.
His experience spans various industries including education, finance, healthcare, manufacturing, marketing, publishing, and technology.
“I’m privileged to follow Steve Drake and others who have served as President of AMC Institute,” said Dee.
“In my year as President, I look forward to continuing to raise awareness of the value adds of the AMC model and the targeted solutions that AMC Institute members offer – especially in the outsourced management arena – to help associations maximize resources and stay competitive in a tough climate.”
In addition, Dee will champion efforts to deliver expanded management resources, reports and tools to association leaders via AMCInstitute.org.
As an internal best practice, Dee and the Board of Directors will focus on growing the number of AMC Institute Accredited AMCs, which stood at one-third of the membership at the start of 2010.
Board President-Elect Rick Cristol is President of Kellen Company, a leading Accredited global professional services firm with headquarters in Atlanta and offices in Beijing, Brussels, New York, Tucson and Washington, D.C.
Based in the D.C. office, Cristol has more than 30 years of association management experience – with particular emphasis on governance and government affairs, international trade, international and domestic marketing, public relations and meetings management – and is responsible for all of Kellen’s North America association management business.
Well-traveled in his line of work, he frequently conducts strategic planning sessions for Kellen Company client associations around the world. Cristol is a member of the American Society of Association Executives.
An AMC Institute board member since 2006, Board Vice President Jaime Nolan, CAE, is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of IntrinXec Management Inc., a Minneapolis, Minnesota-based Accredited Association Management Company providing full-service management to nonprofit trade organizations and professional societies.
Nolan also serves as Executive Director and advisor to the boards of the Minnesota Precision Manufacturing Association and the Health Care Administrators Association, providing guidance on association governance, regulations, and current trends.
She is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the Midwest Society of Association Executives (MSAE), the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), and Meeting Professionals International (MPI).
Board Secretary/Treasurer Gregg Talley, CAE, is President and Founder of Talley Management Group, Inc., an Accredited association/ event management company with headquarters in Mount Royal, New Jersey, and an office in Alexandria, Virginia.
Over his 25-year career, Talley has specialized in medical association management and has extensive experience in planning and managing events throughout the world, having planned and managed several major international conventions for groups of up to 50,000 people.
TMG is currently the management firm for the Convention Industry Council (CIC) among 23 other national and international professional societies and associations. Talley has served as chair of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) and currently serves as a Trustee on the PCMA Education Foundation.
