The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre's team putting the final touches to the birthday cake before presentation to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah.
Led by Executive Pastry Chef Leslie Teong (second left), the cake reflects Malaysia’s multicultural diversity.
Intricate designs adorn the confection, with a two-tier base of 120 cupcakes in vanilla, butter, chocolate and marble flavours topped by a third tier of 25 macaroons.
The entire creation is resplendent in golden yellow colour with the royal standard in strategic positions. A feature presentation is the fountain in the centre, crowned by a breathtaking hand-carved sugar dome.
The cupcakes are artfully ensconced in individually wrapped boxes for easy distribution to guests.
On the Centre’s novel take on the royal birthday offering, Executive Pastry Chef Leslie said, “We’re particularly proud of our fountain feature, as not many would dare to risk ruining the artistic designs with a technical addition. The Centre is privileged to be staffed by a team of skilled professionals who eagerly embrace the latest trends, effectively delivering a cohesively and creatively designed cake.”
