Following an exhaustive world-wide search, New Zealander Jo Robinson has been appointed Director of Marketing & Sales at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
Responsible for generating national and international business for the Centre and State, Jo joins Adelaide Convention Centre after almost 10 years of selling Christchurch as a conference destination.
Welcoming the appointment, Chief Executive Alec Gilbert said Jo’s international industry contacts and her extensive knowledge of the European, Asian, Australian and New Zealand markets would help the Centre to increase market share and cement Adelaide’s reputation as Australia’s Convention City.
“This is a challenging, executive-level role that was highly coveted with close to 90 applicants from Australia and overseas and we are pleased to have someone of Jo’s calibre and experience on board.”
Jo said Adelaide Convention Centre had an impressive reputation and she was thrilled to be taking on the role in Adelaide, Christchurch’s sister city.
“Adelaide presents a fantastic opportunity to further my career and to meet new people and I am looking forward to the challenge of contributing to the Centre’s ongoing success,” she said.
“The Centre itself is a major generator of economic wealth helping fill hotel beds and restaurant seats and generating tourism dollars in regional communities.
“I am excited by the Team Adelaide approach that exists in Adelaide with a range of government agencies and organisations combining to attract business and I am looking forward to working with both ACC staff and those organisations to achieve the results that the City can be proud of.”
Throughout her career, Jo has been actively involved in a number of industry associations including the Conventions & Incentives New Zealand Centre of Excellence, International Congress & Convention Association Asia Pacific and the Aviation, Tourism & Travel Training Organisation as well as guest lecturing at Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology and Lincoln University.
