How to get major projects and developments off the ground in South Australia is one of the main topics of discussion at the South Australian Major Projects Conference held at the Adelaide Convention Centre today.
Hosted by ExpoTrade Australia, the South Australian Major Projects Conference follows on from the South Australian Infrastructure Conference held last year.
This year’s conference has attracted more than 350 delegates from a range of sectors including councils, government and small business through to large companies.
ExpoTrade Australia’s Business Development Manager Linda Li says that the South Australian economy appears to be surviving the current economic climate with strong interest in the conference.
“There appears to be some confidence in the South Australian market, with people interested in major developments across South Australia. This is evident in the number of delegates attending the South Australian Major Projects Conference from a range of fields, including the public and private sectors,” said Ms Li.
The South Australian Major Projects Conference has been well supported by the Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure and the Office of Major Projects and Infrastructure, providing valuable information on the South Australian market and the latest major projects.
The two-day conference features a number of keynote speakers from both the private and government sectors including Hon. Paul Holloway, Minister for Urban Development and Planning; Monsignor David Cappo, Social Inclusion Unit SA; Rod Hook, Office of Major Projects and Infrastructure; Andrew Millar, Leed Construction and Engineering; and Hon. Patrick Colon, Minister for Transport Energy and Infrastructure.
Topics covered include sustainability and its effects on major projects in the future; negotiating commercial contract terms with SA Government; State Planning update; the role of the social inclusion unit; as well as a number of case studies including the Northern Expressway project, the Balfours/Bus Station revitalisation project and the Anzac Highway Underpass project.
Adelaide Convention Centre Chief Executive Alec Gilbert said it was fitting that the South Australian Major Projects Conference was being hosted in one of South Australia’s most iconic buildings, the Adelaide Convention Centre.
“Having been on the major projects list, the Adelaide Convention Centre is the perfect host for this conference. It is great to see that South Australia’s business community is still passionate about growing this great State even in these uncertain economic times,” he said.
