Bonsai fanatics will flock to Brisbane for the 22nd Australian Association of Bonsai Clubs National Bonsai Convention to be held at the Royal on the Park Hotel from 22nd to 25th May.
The annual conference – with an estimated economic impact of $504,000 – will bring together more than 300 attendees from within Australia along with bonsai artists from overseas to take part in an interactive program of workshops and demonstrations.
The general public will also have the chance to participate and learn about this unique art through the Public Bonsai Exhibition which will take place at the Royal on the Park Hotel over the weekend.
The four day meeting will kick off with a tour of Brisbane’s leafiest locations including the Japanese Gardens and Bonsai House in the Brisbane Botanic Gardens at Mt Coot-tha, with the remainder of the conference taking place right across the road from the City Botanic Gardens.
Bonsai Society of Queensland President, Mr Tony Bebb said he was thrilled to host the 2009 convention in Brisbane.
“It is shaping up to be one of the most successful conventions to date and we have received a great response in terms of the line up and the location,” said Mr Bebb.
