Business Events Sydney (BESydney) has cemented Sydney's standing as a key destination for business events during the 2009 Australian Business Events Expo
(ABEE).
Held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre
(SCEC) last week, ABEE showcased the best products and services in Australia's successful events industry.
With over 150 of the top business event suppliers from across the country taking part, BESydney
was proud to bring 46 local and international buyers to the show through its Hosted Buyers Program.
"The program was a great success. We've had strong feedback from both buyers and local industry," said Mr. Jon Hutchison, Chief Executive Officer of BESydney
. "In fact," he said, "the local business events industry thought the quality and calibre of the buyers was very high."
Hosted buyers came from the US, UK, Asia and Australia and included Patricia Wooster from the World Harp Congress and Bruce Schon from the World Forum Foundation.
With the aim of providing a unique Sydney experience, buyers visited Taronga Zoo, Bondi Beach and climbed the Harbour Bridge. They also visited the Sydney Olympic Park
precinct and the Blue Mountains.
"The Hosted Buyer program provided an invaluable opportunity for international and domestic buyers to see and experience Sydney as both a business and leisure destination, before looking to bring future business ashore. The opulent warm winter weather also helped to make the city even more appealing," concluded Hutchison.
Buyers were given the opportunity to discuss their future meetings and events through pre-scheduled appointments with ABEE exhibitors and inspections at some of Sydney's top hotels and venues.
