The Operations Manager for the United Kingdom’s largest consumer show, the British International Motor Show, has joined Adelaide Convention Centre as its new Exhibition Manager.
Alex Tietgen, who has worked on numerous high-profile events such as the London Wine Show, London Fashion Weekend and Fashion Weekend Manchester, has returned to South Australia to put her wealth of international experience to practice in the newly created role at the State’s premier meetings and events venue.
Adelaide Convention Centre Chief Executive Alec Gilbert said the new position signalled a stronger focus on exhibition and trade shows at the Centre.
“Exhibitions are an important part of our business and we are delighted to welcome Ms Tietgen whose experience in the United Kingdom will bring enormous benefits to our local, interstate and international clients,” he said.
“Adelaide Convention Centre operates in a fiercely competitive global environment and having people like Ms Tietgen on board provides our clients with further evidence of our ability to deliver highly successful and professional exhibitions, the equal of anywhere in the world.
“The role of Exhibitions Manager is pivotal to the Centre’s continued growth and we are looking forward to reinvigorating the exhibitions market to drive new business to the State, further benefiting the South Australian economy.”
Ms Tietgen, who is originally from Adelaide and will head up the entire Exhibitions Department, said she had always longed to work at Adelaide Convention Centre and was looking forward to applying her skills and experience in Australia’s convention city, Adelaide.
“Adelaide Convention Centre enjoys an excellent international reputation and it’s great to be back in South Australia and working with such a well-respected and winning team,” she said.
