AIME 2008, the Asia-Pacific Incentives & Meetings Expo, has won the national title of Exhibition of the Year at the prestigious Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) industry awards.
The award was presented at the MEA National Conference held 5-7 April 09 in Adelaide.
AIME is an annual event established and owned by the Melbourne Convention + Visitors Bureau (MCVB) and organised by Reed Travel Exhibitions (RTE).
Accepting the award, Ms Sandra Chipchase, MCVB’s CEO, said: “AIME has grown to become one of the most significant meeting and incentive events in the world, generating enormous revenue for Melbourne, Australia and the Asia Pacific."
“This award recognises the commitment of both MCVB and RTE to providing a world class exhibition and a platform for generating meetings and incentive business in the region,” Ms Chipchase said.
Rosemarie Sama, AIME Event Director, said that new initiatives implemented at AIME 2008 had been well received and had enabled AIME to attract more trade visitors and Hosted Buyers than in previous years.
“Every year we consider how we can improve and enhance AIME. We worked extremely hard in 2008 to recognise the changing needs of exhibiting companies, trade visitors and Hosted Buyers. AIME 2008 broke a number of records and the feedback on the event was exceptional, setting similar records to that of EIBTM 08 and GIBTM 09. We are delighted that AIME has been recognised as the best exhibition in Australia,” Ms Sama said.
AIME 2010 will be held on 2-3 March at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
