Saratoga Springs New York to Expand Convention Center

Saratoga_Springs_CCA city known for world-class Thoroughbred horse racing, the performing arts, historical sites and much more, Saratoga Springs, New York will be expanding the City Center convention facility in 2009-2010.

City Center President Mark E. Baker announced that the City Center project is scheduled to break ground in September of 2009, with completion of the $16 million facility expansion/renovation expected by the fall of 2010.

The expanded convention center will offer 12,000 square feet of new exhibit and meeting space, yielding over 32,000 square feet of lease-able space.

A new second floor will offer additional conference, seminar rooms and expanded event space with commanding views of downtown Saratoga Springs.

The interior will include a grand staircase, escalator, elevator, beautifully appointed and carpeted lobby and pre-function areas as well as new washrooms, entrances and environmentally responsive systems.

Baker noted that "with the expanded space, the facility's capacity to host multiple events and market to larger convention/conference groups is greatly increased."

City Center Sales Director, Judy LeCain is quick to point out that the expansion of facility spaces and up-grade of services and finishes is in direct response to the City Center's loyal client base and their indicated needs and requests.

LeCain states "The new and expanded facility is positioned to meet the future needs of an ever growing and popular meeting site."

"This expansion and renovation comes at the perfect time," said David Zunker, President of the Saratoga Convention and Tourism Bureau.

"A major expansion and significant facelift of the City Center gives the Convention Bureau and Saratoga Springs a positive, upbeat sales message and a considerable competitive advantage, at a time when few projects of this kind are even being considered."
