RCMA donates $100,000 to World Food Programme

RCMAIn the midst of a gloomy economy, when many organizations are having a difficult time financially, the Religious Conference Management Association (RCMA) has donated an additional $100,000 to feed starving children around the world.

Over the past four years, RCMA has provided a total of a half million dollars to the World Food Programme. These funds have fed a total of over 10,000 children during this time period.

DeWayne Woodring, executive director of RCMA, stated “Providing food to impoverished children through schools is one of the most effective strategies for fighting hunger, eliminating poverty and providing education. As a public charity, our association feels it has a special ministry to perform and is expressing this year after year through this humanitarian event.”

Leaders of this international program point out that the food provided by RCMA attracts hungry children to school. An education broadens their options, helping to lift them out of poverty.

Instead of searching for food or working, children receive nutritious meals as well as an education. In the poorest pockets of the world, this strategy can double primary school enrollment in one year.

In other action, the Board of Directors set “Aim High” as the theme for the 38th RCMA World Conference and Exposition, slated for Fort Worth, Texas, January 26-29, 2010.

Developing the educational aspect of the conference, the RCMA Board created a variety of tutorials ranging from “Blessed Be They Who Understand The Religious Market,” and “How To Plan Super Effective Teen Conferences,” to “The Power Of Momentum:  How To Use It Or Lose It,” and “Managing Risk and Liability:  A Belt and Suspenders Approach.”

Special attention was given to the continued expansion of RCMA’s professional education program with its unique Behind-The-Scenes experiences in which conference attendees perform hands-on tasks in a hotel, convention center, television station, advertising agency or public relations firm.

RCMA is a professional, non-profit, faith based organization whose members have responsibility for planning and/or managing 14,000 conferences, meetings and special events for religious organizations which annually attract over 11 million attendees.
