Convening Leaders, taking place January 10-13, 2010, in Dallas, TX is engaging in exciting new promotions and contests through various outlets including social networking sites to promote the Annual Meeting and serve as a laboratory for ideas meeting professionals can implement on their own.
Attendees at the highly anticipated Dallas Annual Meeting will be able to take advantage of innovative online tools to improve their entire meeting experience.
The CrowdVine platform provides an interactive online community which allows attendees to set up meetings as well as access the Annual Meeting final program onsite via personal mobile devices.
“Together with PCMA, we're showing that event social networks are a major upgrade for both connecting on site and as a way to receive the traditionally printed information and should be considered as a standard feature for all conferences,” said Tony Stubblebine, CEO of CrowdVine.
Key features of CrowdVine allow participants to easily add sessions and events to their personal schedule, add friends or people they want to meet, and access speakers to tell them exactly what they hope to learn at the sessions.
The site also allows attendees to aggregate their blogs and Twitters through their PDAs onsite, for instant updates. “Attendees can follow social media conversations from a single social media hub,” says Tony.
PCMA is using its strong Twitter base - with of hundreds of followers - to allow participants to compete for giveaways occurring every two weeks.
Special codes are announced via Twitter, and the first person to register with the code receives prizes such as free registration, a free three night stay at the Hyatt Regency during the Annual Meeting, special add-on programming and tickets to popular events such as the PCMA Education Foundation’s Party With a Purpose.
One can follow PCMA on Twitter at www.twitter.com/pcmahq. The PCMA Twitter hashtag is #pcma10.
“We are really excited about how our new social media initiatives are already improving networking among our attendees and how it will allow us to extend the life of the meeting. We hope that our members will see how these initiatives can be implemented at their own meetings and improve their overall ROI,” said Kelly Peacy, Vice President of Meetings and Events at PCMA.
Also new this year is a video contest in which people submitted videos about why they want to attend Convening Leaders in 2010.
The contest allows contestants to describe why they can’t wait to come to the PCMA Annual Meeting. The voting is underway and the winner will receive free registration and housing for three nights.
PCMA isn’t alone online promoting the meeting, the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau is helping to promote the Annual Meeting through the “Big D Star Search” game.
The viral marketing contest allows participants to place uploaded faces on Dallas-themed characters and forward them to friends. Each forward earns contestants a chance to win a "Dallas All Star Package" which includes two Super Bowl XLV tickets, roundtrip airfare, and accommodations.
The PCMA Annual Meeting allows attendees to jump start 2010 with four days of comprehensive educational and networking events. Utilizing new and enhanced social media and networking tools allows PCMA to open conversation and information exchange between participants.
