Planners who seek green solutions to their meeting and event now can turn to a new online resource.

The Green Meeting Industry Council (GMIC) has partnered up with PlannerWire, a News, Information, and Community web portal for meeting and event professionals, to present the official Green Meetings Directory.

Launched May 15, 2009, the directory showcases GMIC members from around the world and allows meeting and event planners to quickly locate organizations that have expressed intentions toward environmentally responsible practices.

At the Green Meetings Directory meeting professionals will find video and text listings, total product and service offerings, and full contact information for GMIC members who join the directory. The new directory is open to all current members of GMIC who wish to list their offerings, including destinations, hotels, vendor products, and other service providers.

"Through the use of the Green Meetings Directory, planners who are familiar with the integrity of the GMIC community can now easily connect with organizations that are striving to be sustainable," says GMIC Board President Amy Spatrisano.

The GMIC is a leading community for sustainability education, research, policy and standards for the meeting, incentive, conference, and event industry. GMIC's vision is to transform the meetings industry through sustainability, and GMIC members are invited to join in the creation of this resource guide for sustainable and committed organizations.

"All directory listings are members of the GMIC, which requires its members to sign a code of conduct about their commitment to sustainable practices," says GMIC Executive Director Tamara Kennedy-Hill.

"The Green Meetings Directory will have a rating and comment field for planners to submit their feedback, thus ensuring that any green claims are authentically communicated."
