Francine Butler, Ph.D., CAE, CMP, has been named Executive Vice President of AMC Institute, the trade association that represents the Association Management Company (AMC) industry.
Headquartered in Philadelphia, AMC Institute boasts more than 150 AMC members worldwide that collectively manage thousands of trade associations, professional societies and charitable foundations.
Uniquely suited to the role, Butler brings to AMC Institute a career of association practice in strategic planning, credentialing, financial management, and organizational development, as well as the experience of founding and owning a respected AMC Institute accredited AMC, the Resource Center for Associations in Colorado.
Butler served eight years on the AMC Institute Board of Directors, as Secretary/Treasurer and most recently as Vice President.
Steve Drake, President of the AMC Institute Board of Directors, said, "Having personally worked with Francine, I know that her in-depth knowledge of the association management industry will prove a tremendous asset as AMC Institute redoubles its efforts to generate awareness of the AMC management model, and advance the business interests of association management companies and the AMC industry. We are thrilled to welcome her into this new role with the AMC Institute team."
Butler will work to provide increased value to AMCs as they deliver comprehensive association management solutions, from strategic planning and membership development, to communications, advocacy and more.
She looks to strengthen awareness of the AMC model, and to establish AMC Institute member AMCs as the recognized and preferred choice for quality and value-added professional services.
"Building on my eight years as a volunteer on the AMC Institute Board of Directors, I welcome the opportunity to apply my energies now as Executive Vice President, and work even more closely with a team of executives who are truly dedicated to the growth and professionalism of the AMC industry," Butler said.
"As we begin strategic planning for the next few years, high on our list of objectives will be to grow the association and to further advance and promote the value of AMC Institute accredited AMCs."
Butler's association industry achievements and recognitions are widespread. She has served on a number of ASAE committees and on the Boards of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) and their Foundation Board.
Butler is a past president of the Colorado Society of Association Executives and was a recipient of their "Colorado Association Executive of the Year" award in 1988.
In November 2009, she will complete her Presidential term on the Board of the National Organization for Competency Assurance (NOCA). She served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Federation of Behavioral, Psychological and Cognitive Sciences, a consortium of 16 societies and their Foundation, whose focus is research advocacy.
This year she was recognized by five Resource Center client associations for distinguished service.
