Inn Marin is a recent recipient of the State Certification at the Leadership Level for California's Green Hotel Certification program and to celebrate the property's 10th Anniversary, Inn Marin in conjunction with Green Meetings Industry Council will present an educational conference entitled "Green Meeting - Making It Real."
Scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, 2009, the half day conference will take place from 2:30 - 6:30 p.m. and feature keynote speaker (tba) as well as two panel discussions featuring environmentally-acclaimed experts in the meetings industry.
The educational forum is specifically geared towards meeting and hospitality professionals who incorporate green initiatives into their respective fields of practice.
Free to qualified industry professionals, the keynote address will launch the afternoon, followed by two panel discussions, reception, trade show and raffle drawing.

3:10 p.m. Panel: How Green Meetings Are Making An Impact - Site Selections and Beyond; Moderator - Dana Marshall CMP, CMM from Meetings Defined; Panelists - Linda Mansouria CMP, CMM from Cisco, Julie Lindsay from The Gap, Robert Marshall of Inn Marin and Peter Schmitt, CMP of Silver Oak Winery.
In this discussion, planners will share their successes and provide guidance on creating an RFP for Site & Vendor Selection to ensure the partners selected are truly green.
They'll also provide tips and tools for getting started in creating individualized Green Meetings Guidelines and how to take meetings to the next level. Gain a better understanding of what's involved in green certifications, and how planners are driving hotels and venues to conform to the green movement.
4:10 p.m. Panel: Ways to Green Your Event - Getting It Started; Moderator = Eve Schmitt from Eden - Green Meetings and Events; Panelists - Paul Salinger from Oracle, Ed Perotti , CMP of VMware, Sue Klick from Medtronic + vendors - Brandon Lange, from Cappa & Graham, and Stephen Silva, Melon's Catering and Michael Prichett Classic Party Rentals.
Attendees will learn from planners who have made an impact by incorporating the bigger picture of CSR into their meetings and events. The stories will provide inspiration for incorporating individualized initiatives.
This panel combines the knowledge of planners with a DMC and catering company to provide a plethora of ideas and real life examples of what companies are doing to make the world a better place by reducing the impact of meetings and events on the environment.
