Qatar to host MPI training course

QMDIDue to overwhelming demand, Meeting Professionals International (MPI) has once again partnered with Qatar MICE Development Institute (QMDI) to host another Global Certificate in Meetings Operations 1 training course in June at the Four Seasons Hotel.

The course caters for the growing need for event management skills to support the emergent MICE industry in Qatar.

The course offers a comprehensive understanding and practical knowledge of event organization, management and operations and is led by world renowned MPI trainers who will deliver premier industry skills and global best practices in event organization.

Carol Krugman, CMP, CMM has been organizing international meetings for over 25 years, as a corporate marketing manager, association executive, senior manager for two global communications and experience marketing agencies and president of her own independent meeting management company. A frequent speaker at industry meetings around the world, Carol is regarded as one of the industry's top experts in cross-cultural planning, international meeting operations, risk assessment and crisis management. She leads workshops on these topics for hospitality and event management associations throughout the US and abroad, and provides customized consulting and training services for clients in both the corporate and non-profit sectors.

Lorie Tuma is an instructor at the Central Michigan University, teaching in the department of Recreation, Parks, and Leisure Services Administration, specifically in the Event Management Minor. This includes university-level capstone courses in Special Event Management Meetings & Expositions Planning, and Tourism, as well as serving as speaker delivering power-packed presentations on professionalism, event branding, and "Intrapreneurship". Lorie earned a Bachelor's Degree in Community Development and a Master's Degree in Administration from Central Michigan University. She is currently completing a doctoral degree in Education with a cognate in Teacher Leadership

Tyra W. Hilliard, J.D., CMP is a consultant, educator, and attorney and is actively involved with meetings industry associations as well as serves on the Student/Faculty Advisory Council for Meeting Professionals International.  She was named "One of the 25 Most Influential People in the Meetings Industry" by MeetingNews magazine in 2004, and has chaired the Convention Industry Council's APEX Contracts Panel.  As a part-time faculty member at The George Washington University, Tyra teaches graduate courses in meeting and event management; and she is also published in risk management, contracts, intellectual property law, and ethics, hotel safety and security, Olympic Games security, and hotel meeting contracts.
