New Cape Town Conference Centre

townhouse_saOn March 24, 2009 the Townhouse Hotel opened their state-of-the-art new Conference Centre in the heart of Cape Town’s CBD.

The culmination of an 11 million rand refurbishment of this 4-star rated inner city hotel, the impressive new functions space, designed in collaboration with top SA architects Revel Fox & Partners and leading interior designer Les Harbottle, is set to become one of the premier function venues in the Cape.

“It’s a natural progression for the Townhouse,” says General Manager, Jacqui Williams.

“Our hotel has always been one of the most well-placed locations in the city. Our new facility simply extends that convenience… and on something of a grand scale! We are well-known for being the smaller, more individualised hotel experience, but there’s nothing small about our conference venue!”

Spread across two levels, linked by a light, airy foyer and atrium, the Centre has been conceived for maximum spatial flexibility. “There are, for instance, large, full-volume spaces, which can seat as many as 220, or accommodate product launches and formal banqueting,” says Conference Centre Manager, Theoné Williams. “These can also be sub-divided into more intimate venues for breakaway meetings or smaller sessions. And each venue can be custom-equipped with state-of-the-art staging, presentation and audio-visual facilities according to individual needs”.

“If we can customise your function venue, we can also customise your function catering,” says Michelin-trained Executive Chef, Stefan Schmidt, who has devised a range of contemporary menus that can be individualised to match the style and practicalities of any event. “For a working lunch, you might select a light Fusion-style finger menu, or perhaps you require a mid-afternoon coffee and pastry ‘pick-me-up’. There are appetising cocktail canapé menu’s and, course, ‘sit-down’ dinner and banquet style options – a great way to treat guests to some of our exciting African tastes and local Cape vintages.”

Great conferencing convenience goes hand in hand with exceptional overnighting in any one of the hotel’s 106 beautifully redesigned accommodations. From roomy single en-suites to deluxe family suites - all complete with comforts like free high speed internet and DSTV - every guest is guaranteed a ‘good night’s rest’ in a truly ‘home-from-home’ environment - and a mere lift-stop from the Conference Centre.

A variety of Conference Centre packages is available, including half and full day catered or non-catered options, with custom packages available for events such as product launches, cocktail functions and corporate breakfasts. Customised conference/ overnight packages are also offered.

“We may occupy one of the quieter corners of the inner city, but we’re about as central and convenient as a Cape Town function venue can be,” says Jacqui Williams. “We’re 20 minutes from the Airport for out-of-towners; there’s ample on-site parking in a busy CBD for our local visitors; we’re across the road for our parliamentary guests; and a stroll away from major tourist sites, shopping and nightlife for those delegates who balance business with leisure.”

“It’s all part of an experience that we believe is going to distinguish the Townhouse, not only as a preferred business and conferencing venue in Cape Town, but also as the slicker city hospitality option.”
