VisitBritain launches a new online service that helps international visitors compare the price of flights to British airports at this year’s World Travel Market (WTM) (14 - 17 November).

The new flights engine on www.visitbritain.com makes it even easier for potential visitors to plan their trip and drives bookings to individual airline websites.

At present 24 airlines are participating in the service including British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and bmi and, through agreements with consolidators such as Opodo and Orbitz, it will provide details of flights from over 500 airlines.

Tom Wright, chief executive of VisitBritain, said: “Our new flights engine provides an even more comprehensive information service on visitbritain.com for people planning to travel to Britain. Our customers can now save time by coming to a single, trusted and impartial organisation to find a range of flights options and search for the best offers available.”

Britain’s appeal as a luxury destination is also a focus of Britain stand UKI2000. The launch of VisitBritain’s own cocktail - especially created by Islands Bar and Restaurant - celebrates the publication of the second issue of So British magazine.

Following a quality make-over, copies of So British will be distributed in the USA and around the world, and - for the first time - in airport lounges, on flights and throughout the UK.

Heart of England Tourism, South West Tourism, Tourism South East and Visit Guernsey provide a regional flavour of Britain’s superlative destinations to 23,500 international buyers at World Travel Market. Tourism Minister, James Purnell MP, will tour the Britain stand and launch the new flights engine.

This year, up to 20 UKinbound members join VisitBritain on the stand. Together, these attractions, accommodation providers and tour operators reflect the depth, heart and vitality of all that Britain has to offer its visitors.

Stephen Dowd, UKinbound’s chief executive, said: “We are delighted to be again working with VisitBritain at World Travel Market. Committed to the highest standards of service and quality, our members provide the products that enable visitors to the UK to experience the best that our wonderful country has to offer.”
