All buyers have to do is visit the Rotterdam or The Hague on Holland’s stand E100 at this years IMEX in Frankfurt.

In exchange for their business card, Rotterdam and The Hague will carbon-offset the equivalent CO2 of a flight from London to Frankfurt, and buyers will receive an “I Flew to IMEX Carbon-Free” badge to wear.

After last years IMEX, 6.4 tonnes of CO2 was offset, using the CarbonNeutral Company. This was the equivalent of around two-thirds of a Boeing 737 aircraft flying from London to Frankfurt.

At EIBTM last year a similar promotion was run, resulting in 30 tonnes of CO2 offset, equivalent to 300 seats on a Boeing 777 making the journey to Barcelona!

The Hague and Rotterdam also ran one of the world’s first ever Carbon Neutral fam trips in July last year, for 22 key agency planners, with all flights and ground programme being carbon-neutralised.

“Reaction and feedback from buyers from last years promotions was incredibly positive”, says Paul Swain, UK Account Manager for Rotterdam Marketing and The Hague Convention Bureau.

“We aim to build on the previous initiatives, and add to the growing awareness of the role carbon neutralising can play in our industry.”
