The Istanbul Convention and Visitors' Bureau has announced the opening of two new meeting venues in 2006.

The Ayayzaja Centre will be built on the site of the cultural foundation in the central business district and will accommodate up to 8,000 people in total. The auditorium will be capable of accommodating 3,000 people.

The Suluce Convention Centre will also offer a capacity of 8.000 people and wil feature an auditorium capable of holding 3,200 people. It will be located in the downtown area, 10 minutes from Taksim Square.

Elif Fisunoglu, marketing and sales manager at the bureau, said: “These plans demonstrate the continue dynamism of this historic city. Istanbul has made it to the finals for the 4,000-person 2008 World Haemophilia Congress.

The ICVB promoted the city during site inspections in May this year.  The final selection will be made in October in Bangkok at a meeting of the society’s general assembly.”
