Trade Show Exhibitors Association (TSEA) and John Buttine, Inc. have teamed up to develop and deliver ShowDownsm Exhibitor Cancellation of Event Insurance and Exhibitor General Liability Insurance, both created especially for TSEA.

Each plan, available January 15, 2006, is designed exclusively to help mitigate problems exhibitors may encounter at trade shows, and “fills a very real insurance gap in the show industry,” according to TSEA president Stephen Schuldenfrei.

Schuldenfrei observed, “Before these TSEA insurance programs, exhibitors had the chance to recoup their booth price only if the show was cancelled outright, and then only if the organizer chose to refund the booth price; at best, that covers only 30% of an exhibitor’s costs.”

He continued, “The other 70% of the costs are usually ‘self-insured,’ which really implies no insurance at all—those losses will typically come straight out of the exhibitor’s show budget.”

Schuldenfrei also praised Jack Buttine, of John Buttine, Inc., for procuring these comprehensive programs, and being able to offer them to TSEA members at a very reasonable cost.

Jack Buttine said, “Not only are these insurance programs designed to address the specific coverage needs of exhibitors, but the method of purchasing the coverage is also quick and easy, allowing the exhibitor to focus on their business rather than insurance.”

The ShowDownsm Exhibitor Cancellation of Event Insurance is constructed to pay for many unexpected costs, expenses and/or commitments that an exhibitor may incur, for example: event cancellation, postponement, interruption or relocation; and inability of exhibitors to open or keep open their exhibit booths due to physical loss and/or damage to exhibit, late or non-arrival of exhibits, accident or illness to a key business partner or family member, and/or severe weather conditions.

The program even covers terrorism. The Exhibitor General Liability Insurance is arranged to meet the requirements of typical booth space sales agreements.
