The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre (QEIICC) – London’s premier purpose-built venue in the heart of Westminster – completes its £5 million capital investment programme with a further tranche of works this month.

This programme of improvements represents the Centre’s ongoing commitment to meet the conference industry’s increasingly complex demands for security and cutting-edge technology.

During the month of August, the QEII Conference Centre will be renewing its air handling and air conditioning system, incorporating a programme of upgrades to improve the control and distribution systems. This month’s programme will also incorporate refurbishment and improvements to all the Centre’s lifts, updating the specifications to meet the latest requirements of health and safety legislation.

Following the refurbishment of its foyer area and Business Centre in the new corporate colours last year, redecoration in this theme will continue throughout the Centre. In the course of the last twelve months a wide range of conference seating and event furniture has been replaced, including chairs, writing tables and lounge seats.

“These developments complete the modernisation of the Centre’s major conference areas aimed at meeting customer expectations for a modern, high-quality venue with leading-edge technology. Customer feedback has played a major part in where and how the investment is being made” said Stephen Norcliffe, Commercial Director at the Centre.

The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre recently reported record sales in the last financial year. The Centre reported a turnover of £9.263 million – up 18 percent on the previous year – in figures released in its Annual Report and Accounts for the financial year 2003-04.

Over 400 events were hosted at the Queen Elizabeth II (QEII) Conference Centre during 2003/2004, including many high profile events from the UK and abroad.
