The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre (QEIICC), London’s prestigious purpose-built conference centre in the heart of Westminster, has appointed Sumru Ipek as sales executive.

In her new role, Sumru will be joining a sales team of eight and will be responsible to the commercial services manager for the day-to-day operations of the Centre’s computerised reservation system. She will deal with telephone and reservation enquiries from potential clients and undertake the administrative work relating to client bookings.

Sumru graduated in 2002 from Jakobsbergsgymnasium College, Stockholm’s leading hotel and restaurant college. She has worked in the hotel and conference industry in both Stockholm and London.

Sumru joined the QEII Conference Centre from Le Meridian Grosvenor House on Park Lane, London, where she was a sales reservation co-ordinator. Her responsibilities included selling the hotel’s 22 conference suites from the smallest, which holds six people, to the largest which accommodates up to 2,000 people. Previously, Sumru worked as a VIP and guest services co-ordinator at The Ritz Hotel in London.

Stephen Norcliffe, QEII Conference Centre commercial director said: “Sumru joins us with key experience in conference sales. We were impressed by her background in the industry and her ability to initiate ideas and work as part of a team. Her experience and fluency in several languages will complement our dynamic sales team.”

The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre is a premier purpose-built venue in a prestigious location in the heart of London. The Centre is an executive agency of the office of the Deputy Prime Minister and is uniquely situated against the stunning backdrop of Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, The Houses of Parliament and The London Eye.

Over 400 events were hosted at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre during 2003/2004, including many high profile events from the UK and abroad.
