The Convention Industry Council International Manual joins the list of recommended study guides for the CMP examination in addition to its comprehensive reference for all meeting professionals.

The Convention Industry Council (CIC) unveiled its brand new The Convention Industry Council International Manual at the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) Conclave on June 27th , 2005 in Toronto, ON, Canada.

The highly anticipated International Manual is now available for purchase on CIC’s website, www.conventionindustry.org

The International Manual is a study guide for CMP candidates, and is a terrific resource to all event professionals. Recognizing the industry’s international growth, CIC created the first International Manual to take the mystique out of international event planning and provide a reference guide.

The Convention Industry Council International Manual is a supplement to The CIC Manual 7th Edition, paralleling the format, and highlighting terms and techniques used in the global stage. It is used to develop questions for future CMP exams, starting in January 2006, and joins the list of recommended study references for candidates preparing for the CMP examination.

The International Manual also includes a self-test section at the end of each chapter contributing to individuals’ CMP recertification points. All Conclave attendees were given a complementary copy of the new manual.

The CIC International Manual was written by a team of industry leaders with extensive knowledge and experience in the international arena. The CIC greatly appreciates the contributions of the writers who made the manual possible. Their efforts bridged time zones and international cultures to develop a comprehensive manual about global events.

Two hundred and fifty of the best and brightest in the meetings, conventions, and exhibitions industry gathered in Toronto, ON, Canada for the annual CMP Conclave, where the CMP designation is mandatory for attendees.

As part of the Conclave’s activities, attendees were given the opportunity to take part in CMP examination development, while incorporating topics from the new International Manual.

This process helps ensure the validity and prestige of the CMP designation, through the review, editing, and validation of exam questions in the CMP item bank. In addition, the Conclave provides CMPs with professional development and networking opportunities.

As the CMP program continues its global expansion, CMP-related study groups and exams are already scheduled to take place in locations as diverse as Mexico, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Germany, and Singapore. The Convention Industry International Manual will help pave the way for the expansion of the CMP program in Europe, Asia, and beyond.
