Tara Thomas, CMP, one of Explore Portland’s key Planning Partners, was recently awarded the Destination Management Certified Professional (DMCP) classification by the Association of Destination Management Professionals (ADME). To earn the designation, Thomas both passed a written exam and demonstrated a professional level of responsibility and accountability in the fulfillment of destination management programs. During Thomas’ 12 years of industry experience, she has participated in multiple areas of event planning. Her professional interests and opportunities have focused primarily on project management, operations, sales and destination management. The non-profit ADME formed in 1995 to increase the professionalism and effectiveness of destination management through member and industry education. Her certification places Thomas among a select group: fewer than 150 individuals have been granted this classification since its inception. “At Explore Portland, we support the industry’s commitment to a high level of professional and ethical principles,” notes Thomas. “My certification offers clients another way to see our support in practice.”
