Stephen Norcliffe To Leave The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre

Stephen Norcliffe, commercial director and chief operating officer, is to leave The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in April 2008.

 

Following seven years at the Centre, where he started as commercial director, Stephen has been instrumental in its success across all areas and turnover has increased by 31 percent – from £7.945m in 2000 to £10.40million in 2006/7.

 

Comments Stephen: “I have enjoyed seven very successful years at the Centre and a 40 year working life. I have decided to take early retirement so I can spend more time near Cognac, France in the home that I have just finished rebuilding.”

 

Ernest Vincent, chief executive comments: “The entire team will join with me in saying that we are sorry to see Stephen go but we wish him all the best for the future. Stephen’s contribution to the business is well recognized by us all. Over the next six months Stephen will be working with me on future planning to take The QEIICC forward for a further period of significant growth and success.”

 

Prior to joining the Centre, Stephen was head of marketing and business development at the Tower of London with responsibilities across the Historic Royal Palaces group which includes the Tower of London and Hampton Court Palace.

 

During the construction period of the Channel Tunnel he was director of development and marketing for Shepway District Council, and working closely with Eurotunnel his role included promoting the benefits of the tunnel and the surrounding region to business and tourism.

 

Earlier in his career, Stephen played a key role with the Milton Keynes Development Corporation and was responsible for the marketing and selling of this newly developed town to corporations and businesses throughout the world.

 

Stephen is a board member of the UK and Ireland chapter of ICAA – International Congress and Convention Association, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
