Sian Moynihan, CMP, is joining the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) as Executive Vice President, effective August 15, 2005.

She is currently Vice President of Bureau Services for the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau (CCTB), where she worked with Deborah Sexton for seven years before Sexton was named President & CEO of PCMA in February 2005. She is also a longtime member of PCMA.

Sian has an outstanding track record in team building and has done a magnificent job of serving convention customers in her position at CCTB,” Sexton explains. “I know she will translate these skills into serving members of PCMA with the same dedication and attention, and I am thrilled to be working with her again.”

Moynihan is credited with being a leader in the industry, creating award-winning innovative, technologically advanced services to customers, improving communications with the City of Chicago and Chicago’s hospitality community, leading CCTB’s implementation of the Mayor’s citywide recognition program for convention attendees, and developing standardized procedures and training for Bureau Services staff.

Under Moynihan’s leadership, CCTB Services received several industry awards including: 2003 CVB of the Year by EXPO Magazine, IAEM Innovation of the Year for the Digital Marketing Kit (December 2003), Innovation of the Year from TSEA Executive Magazine for DataChicago II (2003), and the Convention Industry Council Hall of Leaders Special Recognition to Mayor Daley for Chicago’s “We’re Glad You’re Here!”™ (2002).

“As a proud member of PCMA, I am excited to have the opportunity to work with Deborah again and help grow PCMA as the educational leader of the industry,” Moynihan says.

The position of Executive Vice President is a new position Sexton created at PCMA to meet the program and administrative needs of the organization. “I believe PCMA needs a strong number-two staff position with someone who can build on the team environment we have in our office,” Sexton adds. “Sian will be very effective in this role.”

Before joining CCTB in 1998, Moynihan spent 10 years at Chicago’s Westin Michigan Avenue in positions including National Sales Manager, Group Sales Manager, Catering Sales Manager and Executive Steward. She also spent several years in the hotel industry in Europe. A certified meeting professional, she is a graduate of the Shannon College of Hotel Management in Ireland.
