The Scottish Exhibition + Conference Centre (SECC) has promoted Robin Miller to head of conference sales.

Robin, who has been international association sales manager and deputy director of conference sales since 2001, has been appointed to the new position as part of a reorganisation of the SECC management team.

The promotion will see Robin lead the conference department, covering national association, international association and corporate/governmental sales. He will report to Ben Goedegebuure who recently assumed full control of SECC’s entire sales operation.

Speaking about Robin’s promotion, Ben said: “The Company sales structure has recently undergone extensive restructuring to ensure we are concentrating and focussing our efforts to provide the best service possible for our clients, delegates and visitors.

“When it comes to conferences, Robin is the man to head our sales. His experience and success in this sector is excellent and he’s the perfect person to build upon the continuous growth that SECC’s conference sector has enjoyed in recent years. I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate him and I’m sure this side of our business will thrive under his supervision.”

Robin said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be heading up the conference sales team and it’s timely to do so, given that we’re enjoying the recognition of winning the accolade of Best UK Conference Centre at this year’s M&IT Awards.

“I intend to maintain and build upon our first-class reputation with the help of my excellent team and we look forward to the challenge of becoming the best conference centre in the world.”

In the last financial year, the conference sector accounted for 35% of the total SECC turnover, which was £15.7 million.
