BestCities.net will expand into Latin America by adding San Juan, Puerto Rico to their partnership by 2005. This unique alliance currently consists of seven convention bureaus representing cities on five continents including Boston, Copenhagen, Cape Town, Dubai, Edinburgh, Melbourne and Vancouver.

BestCities.net Chairman, Steen Jacobsen of Wonderful Copenhagen, notes that the introduction of San Juan, Puerto Rico to the BestCities.net family would add strength and depth to the service offered by the alliance to meeting planners.

“The Puerto Rico Convention Bureau has demonstrated their commitment to deliver the service standards that distinguish BestCities.net partners from other destinations. We’re very pleased, not only for our alliance, but for our customers in the global meetings industry,” says Steen Jacobsen.

The 500 year old city will be become a full-fledged member by 2005 after the completion of various new hotels, airport projects, new convention center, and improved transportation links between these new facilities. The US $415 million Puerto Rico Convention Center project will be the largest in the Caribbean and most technologically advanced in Latin America.

Jorge Pesquera, executive director of the Puerto Rico Convention Bureaux said: “We are thrilled to join such a prestigious alliance. BestCities.net and San Juan will work closely in the next few years to make sure the standards and best practices are met.

We feel that San Juan will add cultural flare and vibrancy to the alliance. Our goal is to make sure San Juan is top of mind with meeting planners by partnering with these well established and trusted international destinations and bureaus.”

BestCities.net, founded in 2000, has firmly established a successful best practice and business exchange network. The alliance works through the partners sharing knowledge to ensure the industry’s highest client service standards, making it easy for clients to work with each city.
