Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg’s world class convention facility, has been selected as one of the three finalists for the ICCA Best Marketing Award 2002. The other finalists are Quebec City Convention Centre, Canada and Ovation Group, Ireland.

The ICCA Best Marketing Award, established in 1997, recognises the excellence and outstanding achievements of organisations in their effort to market their destination or product. Competitors are required to submit entries detailing their overall marketing campaign including measurable results.

“We are delighted to have been selected as a finalist for such a prestigious international award. Over the past two years Sandton Convention Centre has positioned itself locally and internationally as a premier conference, exhibition and special events venue and has also been a significant role player in promoting business tourism to Johannesburg,” says Anton Post, deputy executive director of Sandton Convention Centre.

Each finalist will be given the chance to present their campaign during a plenary session taking place during the 6th ICCA Congress on 3 December in Copenhagen. Jill Henry from the Perth Convention Bureau, winner of the Best Marketing Award 2001, will be leading the session. She will be judging the campaigns along with winners of previous years as well as a member of the ICCA Board of Directors.

The audience will also have a vote. The winner will be announced at the ICCA Congress Closing Session on 4 December 2002.
