Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre’s (SCEC) Director of Operations Paul D’Arcy has been recognized for his contribution to the Australian exhibition industry.

Mr. D’Arcy received the Trevor Riddell President’s Award for Recognition of Excellence at the Exhibition and Events Association of Australia’s (EEAA) annual conference in early December.

Trevor Riddell was the inaugural President of the Exhibition Organizers Association of Australia (EOAA) as well as the EEAA. EEAA President Graeme Selby said the award acknowledged the support Mr. D’Arcy had given the Association’s management team in his role as Treasurer, as well as his willingness to take on extra duties in order to help the industry.

Mr. D’Arcy described the award as a surprise and said he was honored to have received the recognition of his peers. Mr. D’Arcy joined the Centre as Director of Finance in 1994. He assumed the new role of Director of Operations in May 2002 and is now responsible for all operations functions at Australia’s leading convention and exhibition facility.

Recent research conducted by the Commercial Economic Advisory Service of Australia (CEASA) for the EEAA shows that the exhibition industry contributes more than ATD $2 billion to the Australian economy, with 59,000 exhibitors taking part in Australian exhibitions each year.
