In a move to strengthen and extend its profile throughout the Asia Pacific region, the global MICE industry exhibition, IMEX, has become the main sponsor of the annual PATA Face of the Future Award.

Last week (April 24th) saw the presentation of the third ever Face of the Future Award, which was made to young industry professional, Mr Shikher Prasai. The award was made during the opening ceremony of the 55th PATA Annual Conference in Pattaya, Thailand.

Commenting on the winner’s growing professional reputation, Nepal Tourism Board CEO, Mr Tek Bahadur Dangi, described Mr Prasai as “dynamic”. He remarked, “I have had the pleasure of engaging Mr Prasai on various promotional tasks … and have nothing but admiration for his dedication, hard work and perseverance while maintaining a firm focus on a long term vision for Nepal’s tourism.” He added, “Mr Prasai is destined to go far.”

Shikher Prasai, 28, is a Director of Natraj Tours & Travels and Honorary Secretary of the PATA Nepal Chapter. As part of his prize, he will receive a complimentary three-day trip to IMEX in Frankfurt on May 30th – June 1st this year.

Commenting on his win, he said, “Winning the PATA Face of the Future Award has given me more energy and enthusiasm to further contribute and seek wider horizons for the betterment of this industry. I am really looking forward to meeting professionals and experts from the whole industry at IMEX and having the opportunity to learn more about meetings and incentive travel.”

Every year, PATA seeks to recognise and reward an exceptional young leader of the travel and tourism industry. PATA Young Tourism Professional (YTP) members can be nominated for the Face of the Future Award by their industry peers and must demonstrate excellence in their career. Candidates are also judged on their leadership potential and active involvement in PATA and the PATA chapter network.

Both PATA and IMEX are committed to encouraging more young tourism professionals to excel. As a result, the IMEX and MPI Future Leaders’ Forum now extends across Europe, the USA and Asia Pacific.

The next European Forum takes place during IMEX in May with the first Eastern European Forum taking place in Warsaw in August. Mr Prasai will address the students at IMEX on how he began and achieved momentum for his career.
