Ogden IFC Appointed To Manage New Qatar Foundation Convention Center

Qatar Foundation announced that international venue management specialist, Ogden IFC, has been contracted to operate the new convention center located at Education City in Qatar’s capital, Doha.

 

Mr Rashid Al Naimi, Qatar Foundation Vice President, Administration, stated:

 

The convention center at Education City will be a state of the art venue and the largest purpose built convention center in the Middle East. Qatar Foundation chose Ogden IFC, who were appointed following a global tender process, for their extensive international experience in managing a network of private and  public assembly facilities.  Ogden IFC won the tender for the five year contract above three other global companies. We welcome Ogden IFC to Education City and look forward to working with them on this exciting project.”

 

Ogden IFC Chief Executive Officer, Harvey Lister, said the company was looking forward to working in Qatar and adding the Qatar Foundation Convention Center to the 16 global venues it already operates.

 

“The opportunities that exist for conventions and exhibitions in the Gulf region of the Middle East are enormous, and Ogden IFC is excited to be a key player in the realisation of that potential.”

 

Ogden IFC has appointed a highly experienced industry executive as the General Manager of the new convention center.

 

He is Mr Paul D’Arcy, who for the past four years was the General Manager of the Perth Convention Exhibition Center, and before that was Director of Operations at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Center in Australia.

 

The Qatar Foundation convention center is currently under construction. When completed, the center will have 15,000 square metres of exhibition space and have the capacity to welcome over 7,000 convention delegates.
