The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre has launched a new website full of innovations designed to enable event organisers to access more detailed information on Australia’s premier venue.

Extensive floor plans, useful maps and stunning photos of the Centre and its surrounds can all be downloaded from the site, along with key Centre manuals and fact sheets about each of the venue’s 30 meeting rooms.

The website www.scec.com.au even features the ultimate events accessory – a virtual briefcase which allows users to select multiple documents and photos as they browse the site. When they are ready, users simply click on a button to zip all the selected files and download them as one document from the briefcase to their computer.

Centre Chief Executive Ton van Amerongen said the user-friendly site was easy to navigate and filled with features which broke new ground for Australian convention centres.

“This site will save event organisers a lot of time and hassle by giving them the ability to quickly find important facts and features like room capacities and floor plans.

“Even better, they’ll now be able to download all the information they need on the Centre for use in proposals, plans and schedules,” Mr van Amerongen said.

“We think the new site will quickly become a favourite on organisers’ desktops.”

Mr van Amerongen said the website was also home to the Centre’s popular online menu compendium, which enables clients to browse through more than 300 menu items, and view photos and ingredient lists for each dish.

Exhibitors are catered for with easy to find information such as access details, floor plans, service order forms and an extensive events calendar.

Visitors to the Centre have their own easy-to-find section, packed with useful information about  events at the Centre as well maps and details of entertainment and accommodation available in the Darling Harbour precinct and Sydney.

Meanwhile the inhouse Centre Video Production Unit is showcased in its own micro website detailing its comprehensive list of production and editing services and featuring examples of previous work.

“A venue the size of the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre has a lot to offer its customers and visitors,” Mr van Amerongen said.

“We hope the website will encourage our clients and visitors to explore the breadth of services available at the Centre and make it even easier to plan events here.”
