Opening in 2009, a new four-star Radisson Edwardian Hotel will be located on-site at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC).

The new 222 room hotel will include a swimming pool and spa, upscale bar and lounge, numerous small and medium meeting rooms, and a large parking garage.

Upon completion, the hotel will be one of the finest hotels in Aberdeen. The new hotel will be the first developed by the Radisson Edwardian Hotel Group (REH) outside of England. REH is one of the UK's largest privately owned hotel groups and has hotels in London and at Heathrow Airport.

"The new hotel, attached to the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Center, will allow large groups to offer onsite accommodation," said Brian Horsburgh, Deputy Managing Director, Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre.

"This will be the first Radisson Edwardian hotel in Scotland! This is a very significant project for the AECC, the City, and conference organizers alike, as the need for a high quality onsite headquarters hotel has been flagged up as an essential pre-requisite by potential clients. In true Radisson Edwardian style the property will feature contemporary designed accommodation, a restaurant, leisure facilities, including swimming pool, and luxury spa offering a range of relaxing and refreshing treatments, just what you need after a long days conference."

In addition to this development, the new owners of the Holiday Inn, located on the other side of the Centre, are developing a 135 room Holiday Inn Express, also on-site. This will create almost 500 available rooms at the Centre, between the three hotels. A 107 room Ibis Hotel, and a 164 room four-star hotel are in the planning stages in the City Center and a Marriott by Courtyard is being developed at the Aberdeen Airport.

Also in planning stages is the Trump International Golf Links and Resort, which will feature two championship golf courses and a 400 room hotel. The Trump International Golf Links and Resort will be conveniently located in close proximity to the Aberdeen Exhibition and Convention Centre.

"These are just a few of the new developments that are taking place in Aberdeen," said Horsburgh. "Aberdeen is about to become more meeting friendly than it already is!"

Aberdeen is Scotland's third largest city and is accessible by air from all major European cities. It is also just two hours north of Scotland's Capital, Edinburgh, by car. Aberdeen is located on the North Sea, at the start of the Whisky and Castle trails of Scotland, providing meeting planners with endless activities for their attendees.
