With a new Congress Guide published by Dresden-Werbung und Tourismus GmbH (DWT), Dresden is seeking to attract more conferences and congresses to the city.

"The new edition of the Congress Guide is the continuation of a successful publication that presents the range of facilities we have on offer to decision-makers in companies, organisations and agencies in an appropriate and attractive way," says Managing Director of DWT, Yvonne Kubitza.

The range extends from small-scale, exclusive conference locations such as the State Wine-growing Estate Schloss Wackerbarth or the Schraubzwinge conference workshop in the buildings of the German Workshops, Hellerau, via 19 conference hotels, to the Trade-Fair Centre, the New International Congress Center Dresden (ICD), which was officially opened on 26th May, and the Palace of Culture (Kulturpalast).

There is also an attractive list of unusual venues that can be booked either for conferences or for special evening events. These range from the Old Abattoir via Strasse E, historic ballrooms, theatres and palaces, to museums.

Five thousand copies have been printed of the Guide, which runs to nearly 100 pages. At the same time, the web-site www.dresden-congress.de is being thoroughly updated. "The Internet is being used more and more to provide information about conference and congress venues," emphasises Yvonne Kubitza.
