MP International Pte Ltd, a leading Singapore based professional conference and exhibition organiser, has established a strategic alliance with the Shanghai International Sci-tech Exchange Centre (SISEC).

 

The two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding in June 2006 to further promote and facilitate the exchange of information relating to exhibitions and science and technology.

 

Sylvia Phua, Chief Executive Officer, MP International, said: “China is an important market and we are forming strategic partnerships with like-minded Chinese organisations to value add to the industry. Hence, we are very privileged to have the co-operation of SISEC.”

 

SISEC is a subsidiary of the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology (SAST) and handles the associations’ international affairs, including exchange programmes and exhibitions and conferences.

 

Founded in 1958, the association is a nongovernmental and non-profit – making organisation.

 

As the largest scientific institution in Shanghai majoring in natural science, technology and engineering, SAST consists of 180 affiliated societies, associations and institutions of different disciplines with more than 175,000 individual members.

 

SISEC leverages on the intelligent resources from all the affiliated societies and provides integrated services for international conferences and exhibitions, ranging from creative input and project management to logistic services.

 

Commented Mr Zhou Bin, Vice General Manager, SISEC, “As we enter the globalised age, SISEC is stepping up bilateral cooperation with leading organisations that promote innovation and information exchange. Major trade shows and conferences are excellent platforms for our members to learn about the latest trends and technologies and to network with fellow industry members from around the world. Our strategic partnership with MP International is a step in the right direction.”

 

MP International’s Ms Phua added, “Both parties see a wealth of opportunities for us to collaborate synergistically. We are confident that by leveraging the strengths of our respective organisations, we will be able to contribute to the exhibitions and science and technology industries in China.”

 

For a start, SISEC will give full support to relevant events in Shanghai which are organised by MP International and its related companies. These events include those focused on medicine, health and hygiene.

 

MP International recently rebranded with a new name and look. It was previously known as Meeting Planners International Pte Ltd. The group has handled a number of prestigious projects in recent years. These include the mammoth ITMA ASIA textile machinery exhibitions in 2001 and 2005, and the 117th IOC Session in Singapore.
