Meeting Professionals International (MPI) has announced the appointment of Uwe Klapka as Executive Director for the MPI Germany Chapter. It is the first time that MPI appoints a full-time paid Director to develop its activities on a local level. This reinforces MPI’s commitment to its global expansion and strategy recently unveiled. The key objectives are to develop the community on an international level but also strengthening the existing areas of activity in Europe. Uwe started his new role on 1^st October 2007 and is based in Berlin. Uwe will work hand in hand with the MPI Germany Chapter Board of Directors. His role is to grow and strengthen the community in Germany by further developing activities and creating successful partnerships in the market. Joyce Dogniez, CMM, MPI Director of Operations EMEA comments: "We are delighted with Uwe joining our team and are confident that his strong industry background and expertise will make a significant difference to the MPI Germany Chapter. Germany is of key importance to us and we feel that it is a right time for us to appoint a dedicated Executive Director in Germany.” Uwe’s extensive and varied career in the travel as well as the meetings and incentive industry spans over two decades. Most recently Uwe was Senior Key Account Manager MICE for Hotel Reservation Service in Cologne and previously to that he was Managing Partner at Travelog KG. He studied Business administration in Berlin and also holds several certifications for industry specific tools such as SAP Travel Management or OnVantage MeetingView. On top of his professional duties, Uwe is a guest lecturer at the European Business College in Dresden and the Fachhochschule für Wirtschaft Berlin. In his spare times he is involved in voluntary activities and trains to run marathons.
