Michael Robison, chairman and chief executive officer of Lanier Parking Systems, is the incoming chairman of the board of directors for Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) for the 2006-2007 term.

 

Michael Robison founded privately-held Lanier Parking Systems, subsidiary of Lanier Parking Holdings, LLC., in 1989. Now the largest parking business in Georgia, the company controls more than $10 billion worth of commercial parking at 300 properties in 34 cities across the United States.

 

Extensively involved in Georgia’s community and public affairs, Robison serves as chairman of Atlanta Streetcar, Inc., a private, non-profit organization leading the creation of a streetcar line servicing the Peachtree Street corridor from Buckhead to Downtown.

 

He also serves on the boards of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, the Georgia Tech College of Management, Midtown Alliance, the Andrew Young International Boulevard Revitalization Project, Atlanta Taxi Technical Advisory Group and is a member of Central Atlanta Progress and the Downtown Improvement District.

 

Robison was named one of Georgia Trend’s “40 under 40” in 2003, received the 2002 President’s Award from ACVB, and was a top-five finalist for the 2002 Atlanta Business Chronicle’s “Small Business Person of the Year” Award.

 

The chairman of the ACVB is selected by the board of directors following nominations by the organization’s executive committee.
