Copenhagen in the world's top 10 Every year, UIA, Union of International Associations, work out a list of the world's most used cities for international conferences. The recently published figures show that Copenhagen in 2003 played host to 104 conferences, which means that the Danish capital came in as number 8 on the list. At the very top is Paris that hosted 235 international conferences in 2003. Just above Copenhagen, in the sixth and seventh place, we find Barcelona and Rome with each 116 and 111 conferences.
The UIA list includes only conferences with a minimum of two bed-nights and with at least 300 participants coming from five different countries. At least 40% of the delegates must be foreigners. Copenhagen has been in the world's top ten for many years and is maintaining its position as a leading conference city in spite of growing competition from other major cities in Europe and the rest of the world.
Bella Center - 40 and never been younger Bella Center, Scandinavia's largest congress centre, turns 40 on September 1st and will during this autumn welcome guest number 25 million. The state of the art Bella Centre is, with its unique location near Copenhagen Airport, hotels and only ten minutes away from the city centre, in spite of its mature age stronger than ever. 2005 is going to be the best year the conference centre has seen with 25 - 30 major congresses in the pipeline.
However, Bella Centre is not resting on its laurels but is rather looking ahead at a future bringing renewal and major development projects. According to a new strategy plan running up to 2010, Bella Centre will be expanding with a 12,000 square metre multi purpose hall, a new hotel and an arena seating 15,000 guests. Bella Centre is known for its ability to turn vision into action. The last development plan named "Vision 2005" was realised already in 2000. www.bellacenter.dk

The 6 new routes will further strengthen Copenhagen's position as the leading air traffic hub in Northern Europe. With these new cities on the SAS route map there will be more opportunities for SAS customers to travel by air from local to major destinations.
The new destinations included in the SAS route plan is the result of an agreement between SAS and Cimber Air who will by flying the routes for SAS with their CRJ200LR jet aircrafts with room for 48 passengers. www.sas.dk |
