In its quest to make a strong impact in the Asia Pacific region, MCI, the global association, communications and event management company headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, brought its entire MCI Management Board to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 3 – 4 September 2007 for its semi-annual meeting. The Management Board comprises 21 individuals representing the senior leaders throughout MCI’s 19 offices worldwide. Impressed with the country, Mr Robin Lokerman, CEO of MCI’s Institutional Division said, “We are amazed by the level of collaboration showed by the various organisations involved in hosting our meeting in Malaysia, such as Tourism Malaysia, Malaysia Airlines, Traders Hotel, Mayflower and of course, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the host venue for our 2-day meeting.” We are all impressed with ‘Team Malaysia’ and it was a fantastic experience, from the satay we dined-on whilst flying Malaysia Airlines, to the warm, friendly Malaysians we met and the world class facilities at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. We will definitely be back!” Mr Lokerman added, “MCI’s growth throughout the Asia region will happen faster than our growth in Europe over the last few years. We are already poised to announce two new Asian offices before 2007 ends and have plans in place for additional expansion in 2008. I look forward to leading MCI’s development into this region, as I truly believe in the growth of this region. The 21st Century will be Asian-focused!” Commenting on MCI’s expansion in Asia, Mr Peter Brokenshire, general manager, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, said “The presence of MCI in Asia continues to spur further growth and interest in Malaysia as a business tourism destination. Team Malaysia showcased Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, and in turn, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre as a value for money destination, with an international edge, supported by sound infrastructure, culturally diverse people, and various pre- and post-conference tour options during the visit”. MCI is well regarded in the industry, holding multiple leadership positions in industry associations. MCI also has contributed to important initiatives including cultural diversity, health and safety, best procurement practices and corporate social responsibility in partnership with international organisations. Asian MICE businesses can expect to see on-going involvement from MCI in the coming years. |
