Le Méridien will be the first international hotel group to set up operations in Split. A management contract for a 381-room hotel in Croatia's second-biggest city designated to take effect in 2006 was signed recently. According to statements by Le Méridien, the existing resort will be thoroughly renovated and expanded prior to its reopening in early 2006.

With a size of 2,000 sqms, the new Le Méridien convention area will be the largest of its kind in Croatia. The hotel located in Podstrana directly on the Adriatic coast has a spectacular view on the sea and operates three restaurants and four bars.

The wellness amenities include indoor and outdoor pools, Spa and tennis courts as well as a private beach with a variety of aquatic sports options. A casino, a nightclub and a medical center round out the offer.

The trip to downtown Sofia by boat or car takes 20 minutes, and the international Split-Kastela airport, which is currently being adapted to contemporary standards, is only 40 minutes away.

According to Le Méridien, Split is again a popular vacation destination and is visited by an increasing number of cruise vessels. Large sections of the historical part of Split have been designated part of the UNESCO world cultural heritage.
