John Oliver Named Advertising Manager For Association News

John Oliver has been appointed as a new advertising manager at Schneider Publishing Company, the Los Angeles-based publisher of the meetings and events magazines Association News and SportsTravel.

 

Oliver is a sales and publishing professional with more than 24 years of experience in the meetings industry.

 

He will be responsible for advertising sales in Association News in a 14-state territory that includes Texas, Illinois and the Central United States.

Oliver joins Schneider Publishing Company after almost four years at Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the largest association for the meetings profession. During his tenure at MPI, he served as regional account director and director of advertising sales.

 

In addition to growing sales in his own territory, Oliver directed the advertising sales operation for the association's magazine, The Meeting Professional, and the association's Web site and other print initiatives.

"John's familiarity with both the association and meetings industries as well as his experience in advertising sales make him a perfect fit for us," said Association News Publisher Timothy Schneider. "As a veteran of our industry, John is sure to play a major role in the continued growth of Schneider Publishing Company."

Before joining MPI, Oliver spent two decades developing his skills in advertising, marketing and sales. He served as executive vice-president of industry relations at American Exhibition Services, vice-president of sales at the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) - where he assisted in the launch of Convene magazine - and director of membership at the Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau.
