Angeline Lue’s recent appointment as Global Business Tourism Portfolio Manager for South African Tourism (SAT) demonstrates the renewed commitment from SAT to the Business Tourism sector in SA.

This is the word from Eddy Khosa, CEO of the Johannesburg Tourism Company.

“We are pleased with this added resource and believe as a dedicated champion at SAT, Angeline will play an invaluable role in showcasing business tourism in South Africa,” says Khosa.

Lue is equally thrilled to be working with the Johannesburg Tourism Company. ”It’s good to see that our provinces have identified Business Tourism professionals as dedicated capacity to assist in the marketing of Business Tourism in South Africa,” says Lue.

As a fast growing and increasingly valuable tourism market niche, Business Tourism is a key focus area for South Africa, and more specifically Johannesburg, which holds the title of the premier Business Tourism destination in South Africa.

Lue says that she welcomes Johannesburg’s focused approach on Business Tourism as it takes the marketing spend that much further.

According to Lue, SAT is proactively working on improving integration and alignment not only between the provinces but also inter-provincially.

“We are seeing more collaboration and cooperative engagement in marketing Business Tourism - this was evident by our recent participation at IMEX, the worldwide exhibition for meetings and incentive travel held in Germany. The openness from the various provinces to discuss their plans for bids and their extension of support to one another is a positive sign for the industry,” says Lue.

Having held various top positions in the tourism and hospitality industry, the JTC is confident that Angeline brings with her a sound knowledge and understanding of the role all the major conference cities in SA play in positioning SA as the premier Business Tourism destination for Africa, and indeed the southern Hemisphere.

“We look forward to working closely with Angeline to further drive Business Tourism in Johannesburg,” concludes Khosa.
