Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition (Management) Ltd (HKCEC)’s Deputy Managing Director, Joanne Davis, has decided to leave the company at the end of her contract in February, after 15 years.
Following the announcement, Joanne Davis said, “I am proud to have played a part in establishing the HKCEC as a world leading venue. However, having followed my role as an exhibition organiser in the London fashion industry with 15 years at the HKCEC in Hong Kong, I have decided the time is right to leave the HKCEC and consider my next challenge. I have enjoyed every minute of my time at the HKCEC and I am sure I will miss Cliff and all of the team enormously.”
Cliff Wallace, HKCEC’s Managing Director, said, “Joanne Davis has been a prime mover in establishing HKCEC on the world stage. During her tenure, exhibition sales revenue has quadrupled from HK$86 million to the current HK$326 million. She has made a huge contribution to this success. She will be missed very much.”
Joanne Davis joined HKCEC in 1991. She has been responsible for commercial direction, business planning, and the management of the event sales and marketing. She has contributed to the company’s success in numerous ways but in particular through her positive relationship with both the customers and staff. She has been a major part of the collective efforts to enhance the HKCEC’s image continuously and set the standards in the Asia Pacific for operating exhibition and convention centres for years.
Joanne also spearheaded major activities at HKCEC including the Handover ceremonies in 1997, ITU Telecom Asia in 2000 and 2002, and the WTO Ministerial Conference last December. She has been active in the local exhibition association, pioneering the use of statistical and economic benefit analysis for Hong Kong’s event industry and establishment of education and training programmes. |
