Sports entrepreneur Jake Steinfeld, whose Body by Jake® brand has sold more than $600 million worth of fitness equipment to four million customers worldwide, will be the featured keynote speaker at this year’s TEAMS Conference & Expo, which will be held October 10-14 in Las Vegas.

Jake will deliver his keynote address at the annual SportsTravel Awards luncheon on Friday, October 13, at 12 noon at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Jake, known the world over as the Trainer to the Stars® and the person responsible for creating the personal fitness training industry, has parlayed his fame into success as a business and television entrepreneur.

In 1993, he created FitTV, which was sold four years later for $500 million. In 2000, Jake founded Major League Lacrosse, the nation’s only professional outdoor lacrosse league.

This year, Jake partnered with Comcast, Time Warner and New Balance to launch ExerciseTV, a video-on-demand service now available in 20 million households, which is dedicated to providing health and fitness instruction and motivational programming 24 hours a day.

Jake is also the author of the best-selling business book I’ve Seen a Lot of Famous People Naked, and Theyve Got Nothing on You! which was published earlier this year. He also serves as chairman of the California Governors Council on Physical Fitness & Sports and is the founder of the Don’t Quit! Foundation, which establishes fitness centers and programs in inner-city middle and high schools across the U.S.

“Jake is a wonderfully positive motivator, said Tim Schneider, publisher of SportsTravel magazine, which organizes the TEAMS Conference & Expo. “His insights into what it takes to be successful in sports are sure to resonate with our attendees.

Also appearing at TEAMS 2006 in Las Vegas will be Olympian Joey Cheek, who made headlines earlier this year when he contributed his U.S.O.C. bonuses for winning gold and silver medals at the Winter Olympics to an organization that benefits Sudanese refugees living in Chad. Ethnic violence in the Darfur region of Sudan has led to the displacement of more than one million people and Joey chose to help the refugees by contributing all of his bonus money to the nonprofit organization Right to Play.

“Joey represents the best in athletic achievement and the power of sports to have a positive impact on humanity, said Schneider. “Joey credits his travels as an athlete for exposing him to the situation in Darfur. We’re honored that he’ll be sharing some of those experiences with us at TEAMS 2006.

Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, the self-described ‘happiest mayor on earth,’ will also take the stage at TEAMS 2006. Mayor Goodman will discuss the explosive growth of Las Vegas and the city’s ongoing efforts to attract sporting events and professional sports teams.

Named one of the ‘50 Fastest-Growing Trade Shows’ by Tradeshow Week magazine for three consecutive years, the TEAMS Conference & Expo is the world’s largest gathering of the sports event and sports-related travel industry.

Presented by SportsTravel magazine, sponsored by Best Western International and hosted by the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority, TEAMS Conference & Expo will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
