In the face of booming national and international demand for conference events the ICC Berlin is due to record its’ most successful business year to date.

 

Its conference calendar has 81 large-scale congresses scheduled for 2008 and 2009 alone, with around 320,000 attendees. Bookings have already been taken for the year 2016.

 

With more conferences focusing on this scientific discipline than any other, medicine in particular has propelled Berlin to its status as a leading international conference venue. Thus several notable organisers have opted for the ICC Berlin as their venue for conferences over the next few years.

 

Europe’s largest health policy event, the Medicine + Health Congress in the Capital with over 6,000 attendees will be holding its annual conferences in the ICC Berlin until 2012. The congress will include three other events: "Hospital, Clinic, Rehabilitation", the "German Medical Forum" and the "German Nursing Congress".

 

The German Society for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Neuropsychiatry (DGPPN), which in November 2007 held its annual meeting in the ICC Berlin, the largest of its kind and with a record attendance (7,200 specialists), will also be organising an annual exchange of information in Berlin until 2010, with attendance numbers likely to rise.

 

The German Cancer Society will be holding its bi-annual German Cancer Congress in the ICC Berlin until 2012. Over 10,000 people regularly attend this specialist congress, which includes an Activities Day inviting those affected and their relatives.

 

The Congress of the German Society for Surgery, which annually attracts around 5,000 medical specialists from practical fields and research, with Berlin and Munich alternately hosting the event, has chosen the ICC Berlin for even-numbered years between 2008 and 2016.

 

Major congresses taking place in the ICC Berlin in 2008 will include:

 

·         SAP SAPPHIRE 2008 Berlin, with 8,000 IT-professionals

·         8th European Congress on Epileptology, with 4,000 experts

·         VISZERALMEDIZIN 2008: Gastroenterologie - Viszerale Chirurgie (Visceral Surgery in Gastroenterology), with 4,000 laparoscopic surgeons

·         1st European Congress for Integrative Medicine together with the German Congress for Integrative Medicine, with 1,500 participants

·         The European Breast Cancer Congress, with over 8.000 medical specialists

·         The European Congress on Endocrinology, with over 4,000 medical specialists and scientists

·         The annual meeting of the International Trademark Association (INTA) , with 7,000 specialists

·         The Europe Efficient Consumer Response Forum & Marketplace (ECR), with close to 4,000 experts in attendance

·         The Medicine + Health Congress in the Capital, with 6,000 attendees from all areas of the health system

·         Hypertension 2008, with over 7,000 HTN specialists

·         The World Genetics Congress, with approximately 4,000 experts from around the world

·         The World Psychology Congress, with over 12,000 specialists

·         The XXVIth Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS), with over 2,500 eye specialists from all over Europe

·         The annual congress of the European Respiratory Society (ERS), with 19,000 members from around the world expected to attend.

·         The German Orthopaedics and Traumatology Congress, with close to 7,500 doctors and physiotherapists in attendance

·         The congress of the German Society for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Neuropsychiatry (DGPPN), with over 7,500 members

 

In addition to these events the presentation ceremonies of the ECHO Pop, one of the world’s major music awards, took place in February for the sixth time in the ICC Berlin.
