This year's ICCA Congress taking place 1-5 November in Victoria, Canada coincides with the US elections, so all-nighter TV rooms will be set up for political junkies to follow the results as they come in state by state.

This year's education programme also promises to be a powerful attraction:

"Hewlett Packard, Nike, International AIDS Society, World Dental Federation, World Bank/IMF, AstraZeneca, Smith Bucklin: these are just a few examples from our strongest ever line-up of world class global companies and associations whose senior executives will be speakers at the Congress," said Martin Sirk, ICCA CEO.

"In addition, as always, there will also be a tremendous range of ICCA member session leaders who are keen to share their own knowledge and experiences".

Topics range from "Multinational companies and the evolution of their meetings" to "Glorius failure - how to profit from lost bids" and from "Current state of the US outbound meetings market" to "Bidding for major sporting events".

Other sessions will examine some of the industry's most critical current issues, such as the dramatic changes occuring around the world in pharmaceutical funding for medical congresses, strategies for coping with times of economic turbulence, and managing communication with clients and the media during disasters and crises.

The keynote Copenhagen Lecture will be given by Professor Mads Ovlisen, Immediate past CEO and Chairman of bio-pharmaceutical giant Novo Nordisk and current Board member of the UN Global Compact, the world's largest and most influential CSR initiative.

"We know that this year's US elections are being keenly followed by our members all around the world" said Sirk, "so we wanted to make sure they won't have to miss any of the action. I think the election all-nighter could end up being one of the most popular networking sessions of the week, with our US delegates being joined by colleagues from dozens of other countries!"

The ICCA Congress is expected to attract between 700 and 800 senior meetings industry delegates from over 60 countries, covering all supplier sectors including congress centres and convention hotels, destination marketing organisations, and meetings management companies.
