The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) has been voted the “Best Convention and Exhibition Centre in Asia” in the newly released 2007 industry Reader’s Choice Awards’ survey, conducted by CEI Asia Pacific, a leading convention, exhibition and incentive industry publication.  Survey results were released in the December-January issue of the trade magazine. 

This is the 5^th consecutive readers’ survey conducted by CEI Asia Pacific in which the HKCEC has been recognised as the top venue in its category. 

Mr Cliff Wallace, Managing Director of Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited (HML), said, “We are most pleased that the HKCEC has received such a prestigious recognition by the magazine’s readers who are acknowledged industry executives, many who have used and worked with exhibitions and other major events held in venues throughout Asia. The survey affirms the prestigious reputation and quality of the HKCEC and its service levels, even considering the increasing competition from new and expanding venues in the region. The survey results are also very gratifying since our second expansion is now underway to meet growing demand. ”

To accommodate the demand for more space by the HKCEC’s current major exhibition organisers and projected growing demand for additional exhibition space into the future, the construction of HKCEC’s second expansion started in July 2006 and is scheduled for completion in early 2009.

The expansion will add 19,400 square metres of exhibition space and bring the total rentable function space to 90,000 square metres.

The top ten (10) Best Purpose-Built Centres in Asia were also named in the magazine. In addition to HKCEC's top rating; Suntec Singapore, Singapore Expo, Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Shanghai New International Expo Centre and AsiaWorld-Expo were also included.
