The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) has been voted as the “Best Convention & Exhibition Centre” at the 17th TTG Travel Awards.

The “Best Convention & Exhibition Centre” award was initially created last year and this is the second consecutive year that HKCEC has won this award.

Mr Cliff Wallace, Managing Director of HKCEC (Management) Limited (HML), the Centre’s professional private management company, said:

“The recognition and acknowledgement through receiving this prestigious international award demonstrate the continuous support from the TTG readers, our peers, friends and customers over the past two years. How pleased we are that the quality of the HKCEC’s facilities and services are valued so highly. We are motivated to serve our clients even better upon receiving such a meaningful award from TTG.”

Despite robust competition from new and expanding venues in the region, the HKCEC set 18-year operating records for the fiscal year of 2005-06 (1 July to 30 June).

A total of 1,322 events were held including 123 exhibitions, 37 international conferences, 119 entertainment and special events (35 were film shows and 40 were concerts), 373 banquets and 670 other events.

To better facilitate HKCEC’s clients and accommodate the growing demand of our exhibition space, the construction of HKCEC’s second expansion has started in July 2006 and is scheduled for completion in early 2009.

The expansion will add 19,400 square metres of exhibition space and provide a total of 82,682 square metres of rentable exhibition space.
